Leadership EQ: Self-regulation
Would you like to lead with courage and alignment? This practical and interactive workshop will build self-mastery from within.
Being conscious enough to self-regulate enables you to shift out of biases that have previously kept you trapped. Knowing yourself at this level gives you the cutting edge you need to lead authentically and be courageous in your everyday challenges.
Self-regulation or self-management is one of the key areas of personal skills that make up Emotional Intelligence and is key to our ability to manage change and stressful situations. Self-regulation is concerned with how you control and manage yourself and your emotions, inner resources, and abilities. It also includes your ability to manage your impulses. Self-regulation also includes an element of taking responsibility for your own actions, and ensuring that what you do matches with your personal values.
Stephen Covey emphasizes that you and I have response-ability - the ability to choose our response to any situation. Managing emotions allows us to make choices so we can choose how we respond to any situation. That's right... You choose the best response for the situation. You also choose not to react to impulsive emotions.
Why is self-regulation important in the workplace?
Using Emotional Intelligence to self-regulate your emotions, moods and impulses is critical in the workplace. Higher stress tolerance (emotional resilience), better attention to details and problem-solving capabilities are a result of self-regulation and emotional intelligence and they result in a better quality of life.
